I've just read too many horror stories of people who upgraded and had serious issues. If this can't be done easily I'll just return the Kindle and settle for reading on an old phone.Įdit: Issue resolved! I tried plugging the Kindle in again and it popped up in Calibre. My desire is to once again have a lightweight, relatively inexpensive e-reader with long battery life so I have something to read while backpacking/camping and traveling.
*Please don't tell me "just upgrade your OS!" because that's simply not an option for me right now.
Does anyone know of a simple way to do this using Snow Leopard,* either with Calibre or a different app?Īlternately, if this won't work with Kindle does anyone know if it would with another product like a Nook or Kobo? Unfortunately, it appears the last version of Calibre that will work on Snow Leopard won't even recognize my new device.Īll I want is to be able to load my old stuff on my new Kindle. Now, I never had any reason to register my old Kindle and just used Calibre to upload public domain books and my own documents. My old Kindle (I think it was a Kindle 2 or 3) finally just froze up and died, so I went out and bought a new one (it's the basic $79 version).
